Wine, in the last 15 years in the Region of Eastern Macedonia & Thrace, has experienced significant quantitative growth and qualitative improvement. New indigenous varieties have been planted using modern cultivation systems, and modern wineries have been established, ensuring quality in production and packaging, as well as significant economies of scale. The Region of Eastern Macedonia & Thrace has tourist areas with gradual production of high quality wines such as Kavala, Maroneia, Drama, Xanthi and Evros, while investments in wine tourism infrastructure are constantly being made.
