Waipara West

Waipara West is situated on sunny stony north facing terraces along the Waipara River 60 km north of Christchurch. We purchased this farm in 1989 only to find that our Tutton family had owned it 100 years before. Our 28 ha of vines are situated in different locations within our 200 ha farm on soils which range from river gravels with silt and limestone to alluvial loams over gravels. Our modern functional winery is located centrally in the vineyard and as the yields in all varieties are low, the wines are generally intense with an inherent structure providing wines of complexity & interest
